COVID-19 STATEMENT FROM OUR CEO (UPDATE)
24 March 2020
The UK Government’s latest “stay at home” guidance to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, has asked shops that sell non-essential goods to close. Pubs and restaurants etc. are already closed. Other businesses can stay open, but all workers must work from home unless it is impossible for them to do so.
Gilkes’ supports critical infrastructure industries involved in:
- Generating electricity for the national grid
- Supplying primary and back-up power to medical facilities
- Supplying primary and back-up power for data centres
In support of this, we have arranged for almost 95% of our office staff to work from home whilst those in critical operational roles such as machinists, assembly teams, installation technicians, commissioning engineers, stores and logistics staff will continue to attend work.
These measures have been taken to help contain the COVID-19 pandemic, safeguarding our employees’ health and well-being whilst ensuring operational continuity in what is an extremely turbulent time.
Due to the rapidly evolving nature of COVID-19, these measures will be reviewed continuously and modified accordingly.
I’d like to reassure our customers, suppliers and business partners that Gilkes remains steadfast, in the face of this challenge, safe In the knowledge that our people’s agility, responsiveness and total commitment will see us through this.
Please take care and stay safe.
Andy Poole
Chief Executive Officer
